Money and taxes
None of Sanilac County’s cities — Sandusky, Croswell, Marlette, or Brown City — charges a city income tax. A couple dozen Michigan cities do tax the income of residents and people who work there, but none of them is in the Thumb. You’ll still owe state and federal income tax and local property taxes, but there’s no separate city income-tax bill to plan for here.
