Good news on city income tax in West Branch and Rose City

Here’s a small but nice perk: neither West Branch nor Rose City has a city income tax. Only a couple dozen Michigan cities levy one — the big names are Detroit, Grand Rapids, and a handful of others — and Ogemaw County’s two cities aren’t among them.

So if you live or work in West Branch or Rose City, you won’t pay a separate city income tax on top of your state and federal taxes — and neither will someone who works in town but lives elsewhere. It’s one less line item to think about when you’re budgeting a move here.
