Good news on city income tax in Newaygo County
Money and taxes
A handful of Michigan cities charge their own income tax on top of the state’s. If you’re moving to Newaygo County, here’s the good news: none of its cities — Fremont, Grant, Newaygo, or White Cloud — is one of them. Newaygo County has no local income tax at all.
So when you earn a paycheck here, you’ll pay federal and Michigan state income tax like everyone else, but nothing extra to a city or county. That’s one less line to think about when you’re comparing the cost of living from one town to the next.
(Just keep in mind that if you live here but commute to a city that does have an income tax, like Grand Rapids or Muskegon, that city may still tax the money you earn there.)
