No city income tax in Harrisville
Money and taxes
Good news if you’re looking at Harrisville: the city doesn’t have a city income tax. Only about two dozen Michigan cities levy one — Detroit, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, and a handful of others — and Harrisville, Alcona County’s small lakeside county seat, isn’t one of them.
So whether you live in Harrisville or just work there, there’s no separate city income tax on top of your state and federal taxes. (Alcona County has only one city anyway — most of the county is townships, which never levy an income tax.) It’s one less thing to factor in when you’re planning a move to the Sunrise Side.
