The state's biggest amusement park

Michigan’s largest amusement park sits a few miles north of Muskegon in Dalton Township. Michigan’s Adventure describes more than 60 rides, slides, and attractions, including seven roller coasters. Admission also includes WildWater Adventure, the water park next door.

The park started much smaller. Deer Park Funland opened in 1956 as a roadside animal attraction. Today’s Funland Farms nods to that history. The best-known ride is Shivering Timbers, a mile-long wooden coaster. The park calls it Michigan’s longest and fastest coaster; its top speed is 65 mph.

Michigan’s Adventure is at 4750 Whitehall Road in Dalton Township, with a Muskegon mailing address. It operates seasonally. Check the official calendar, ticket details, and ride requirements before making the drive, especially if one particular ride or the water park is the reason for your visit.

The mailing address can be a little confusing: this is north of the city, not near downtown Muskegon or the Lake Michigan beach. The park is large enough that it helps to choose a few priorities before you arrive. A group can split its time between coasters, gentler family rides, and the water park, but trying to cover every attraction in one visit can turn a fun day into a march.
