Lenawee County's airport sits in Madison Township
The county airport uses an Adrian mailing address but lies in Madison Township, with a 5,000-foot paved runway and a grass crosswind strip.
An Adrian mailing address does not always mean a place is inside the city. Lenawee County Airport uses that city name, but a U.S. Census Bureau map lookup puts the airfield in Madison Charter Township, southwest of Adrian.
The main paved runway is 5,000 feet long. A full taxiway runs beside it. The county says the airport can serve business planes and other private aircraft. It also has a grass strip. Small planes can use that strip when the wind favors another direction. Weather reports, runway lights, guided approaches, fuel, and ground help are available.
This is not an airline terminal. It serves company trips, private pilots, the Civil Air Patrol, and a soaring club that offers glider lessons. The county calls it the closest airport to Michigan International Speedway, the Irish Hills, and Michigan State University’s Hidden Lake Gardens. Adrian College and Siena Heights University are only a few miles away.
Madison Township can feel like the open edge of Adrian. The runway adds another layer. Part of the county’s air network is tucked into that same township landscape.
