Four Winds Casino in Hartford

History and culture

hartford four winds pokagon band

Just off I-94 in Hartford is a Four Winds casino — one of several run by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, the Native American tribe whose roots run deep across southwest Michigan and northern Indiana. The tribe opened its flagship casino down in New Buffalo in 2007 and followed it with this Hartford location in 2011. It’s smaller than the New Buffalo resort, but it brings gaming, dining, and live entertainment to the area and is a notable local employer. (Like all casinos, the gaming floor is adults-only.)
