The Genesee Valley Trail ties Flint Township to the city
A paved trail runs from Flint Township's park and commercial corridor toward Flint, where it links into the larger Flint River Trail system.
Flint Township’s busiest roads were built for cars, shopping, and airport traffic. The Genesee Valley Trail gives the west side a quieter route. Miles of paved path run from the township park and Genesee Valley area toward Flint.
On the city side, the route joins the larger Flint River Trail network. That network continues through downtown. It also reaches toward Mott Lake, Bluegill Boat Launch, and other county parks. A neighborhood ride can become a much longer trip without following the township’s busy commercial roads.
The trail is modest compared with the county’s big destination parks. Its value is connection: township to city, shopping district to riverfront, and a short evening ride to a regional trail system.
That role matters in Flint Township. It has no traditional downtown and is crossed by I-69, I-75, and wide commercial roads. The trail gives walkers and riders one public route through that split landscape. Use the current county map for a longer trip. Named segments and street crossings can be less clear on the ground than they look in an overview.
