Yes, there's a ski resort in Otsego
Outdoors
Southwest Michigan isn’t exactly the Alps, but don’t tell that to Otsego Township: it has had its own ski resort since 1982. Bittersweet Resort runs a full winter operation on the bluffs above the Kalamazoo River valley — six chairlifts including two high-speed quads, a terrain park, rope tows and carpet lifts for beginners, rentals, lessons, and lights that keep the runs going well into the evening. Lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan does its part, and snowmaking covers the gaps.
For families in Otsego, Plainwell, and the Kalamazoo area, that means real after-school and after-work skiing fifteen minutes from home — the kind of casual winter access most of the Midwest drives four hours north for. Plenty of Michigan kids learned to link their first turns at Bittersweet, and plenty of their parents still beat them down the hill.
